UGANDA’S BLOODY TERM OF FINISHING BAGANDA JOURNALISTS, one by one.

Grief and sorrow engulfed Uganda as news broke early this week that a member of LDU, one of Museveni’s illegal militia, shot dead Robert Kagolo. The late Kagolo was a trailblazing journalist with Star Radio FM which is under Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC).

The deceased was gunned down at Bugembejembe village, Wakiso District as he was returning from the village after his brother’s burial also killed by Museveni’s security forces! Kagolo’s brother, Samuel Musiitwa, was abducted on Monday and his body with hands tied behind his back found dumped in a forest a day later on Wednesday.

The development came a day after UPDF soldiers assaulted to near-death Ms. Teddy Nakaliga, an expectant mother and a journalist with NTV and Spark TV – Nakaliga together with her colleague Amon Kayanja of Salt TV were doing their job in the same district.

It is worth mentioning that killings are part of Museveni’s special modus Operandi to cling to power. He has been clinging to power for the last 35 years using extreme violence and violations against journalists and dissenting voices.

Museveni’s commanded agents and militias are always premeditated, the dictator represses the fourth estate to ensure the latter doesn’t expose crimes and atrocities committed against millions of Ugandans who opted to espouse Bobi Wine yearning for a new democratic Uganda.

In muzzling journalists who are devoted to abiding by journalistic principles, IGP Martin Okoth Ochola has publicly averred that security forces will never cease brutalizing the journalists.

“We shall beat you for your safety,” Ochola shamelessly said in a security briefing in Kampala recently.

A Press Freedom Index Report 2020, by the Human Rights Network for Journalists Uganda (HRNJ-Uganda), early this month listed for the twelfth consecutive time that Museveni’s security forces are the top perpetrators of violence against local and foreign journalists operating across Uganda.

The army is responsible for 104 cases out of 174 violations against journalists recorded last year.

Outrage on social media platforms has gone viral several times with users asserting that #MuseveniAtumalawo and #UgandaIsBleeding which is indeed true! It is therefore high time that the International Community considers slapping sanctions on Dictator Museveni as he is directly responsible, being the Commander-in-Chief of these security forces that never cease to kill Ugandans.
