LOCKING SCHOOLS TURNS KISORO TEENS INTO DANGEROUS CRIMINALS
Since schools were closed in Uganda by
president Museveni, murder cases are on rise in different parts of Kisoro as
teens are sleeping in centres taking alcohol, stealing raping and killing old
people who try to stop them from illegal actions.
Kisoro CID officer Beiruka said that many
suspects do confess to the crimes committed and most of them give a defense
that it’s because they be drinking a lot at nights. He further that noted that
teenagers in the area have run amok during the prolonged lockdown because they
spent most of their time playing pool and smoking narcotics.
While speaking to media based in Kisoro, the
teenagers who killed a 50 year old man in Gatete village northerner ward of Chahafi
town council they said they committed the crime.
“We decided to follow him and our intention
was to hurt him so we used a stone hit him on his head several times and left
him there”, Suspects said.
Kisoro residents have condemned alcoholism
and idleness among the youth who are now considered a security threat to anyone
who has money and also sent loud message to president Museveni to consider
opening schools like Rwanda did.
According to one of the residence of
chibumba, he said Museveni has destroyed the future of young Ugandans because
they are feeling idle and opting to be criminals yet they could be the future
leaders, therefore we beg him to open schools failure to do that, never should
he come back to see reelection after all he lied us that he was going to set
free Gen Kayihura so he is adding on our anger.
Kisoro parents are sleeping under fear because some of their children have turned to be dangerous, they come back home seeking money to buy waragi which is threatening the region said, nyiramariro one the relatives of those under arrest of murder.
