Reason why Kasango was finished!
Museveni has been cleared to swear in for an illegal term
in office, thanks to bizarre judicial manipulations and a murder. Before his
death last February in prison and out of ‘heart complications', prominent
lawyer Robert Kasango had petitioned the Constitutional Court pointing out the
constitutional taboos overlooked by Museveni in the appointment of Electoral
Commission officials.
Specifically, late counselor Kasango had indicted EC
chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, DPP Justice Jane Frances Abodo and the
Judicial Service Commission chairperson, Justice Benjamin Kabiito. In
compliance, the constitutional Court ordered the officials to vacate office
since they were there illegally.
However, in a signature Machiavellian modus operandi, a
panel of five Justices of the Supreme Court working for Museveni (including the
Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, Stella Arach-Amoko, Rubby Aweri Opio, Paul
Mugamba, and Ezekiel Muhanguzi) broke norms. They allowed the application by
the Attorney General for interim stay of execution of the Constitutional Court
orders.
This judicial theatre means that despot Museveni has been
given a green light to be sworn in since the Electoral Commission will now be
“fully constituted” after its chairperson is fraudulently allowed back into
office. In a law-abiding country, Kasango's petition would have effectively
been the basis for the annulment of the doctored presidential elections
results. Instead, Museveni killed Kasango before going ahead to use his
judicial cartel - led by Chief Justice Owiny Dollo - to divert the judicial
process in his favor.
Earlier last month, the Constitutional Court ruled that
it is illegal for a judge to be appointed to any executive or constitutional
office and that assuming the position without first resigning as judges is
illegal. Museveni appointed Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo and Simon Byabakama under
the cited unconstitutional circumstances.
Museveni might be using the full arms of justice in his
interests but a time will come and he will stand before that justice system he
has so boldly abused, to answer for his crimes.
